Instrument Patches

Here are some instrument patches you can download that were made by us.

Ambient Sine
It’s just a sinewave or some shit that sounds nice; I don’t remember exactly what the hell it is, I’ll come back and rewrite this description when I get around to using it again. It was used on The Rise and Fall of Chernobyl. This instrument patch is to be used with Reason’s Malström module.

Fivocoder
Here’s a vocoder VST we’re currently developing that is meant to be a Windows replacement for Orange Vocoder, that works just as good as Orange Vocoder but with even more functions, since Prosoniq has went to the evils of Macintosh only development. So far it can use the built in synthesizer, a soundfont or a WAV file as the carrier signal (which is what modifies the sound of the vocals or whatever you put through it), effectively giving you an unlimited number of results you can produce, and with it you can mix and match the original audio, vocoded audio and carrier signal audio to different volume levels to produce different results. It still needs compression and more autotuning but it’s coming along nicely. Orange Vocoder, at the time of writing this, sells for $241, but we are giving ours away for free. Future versions, if possible, will contain a built in autotuner as well.

Geiger Counter 2.0
This was also used on The Rise and Fall of Chernobyl for the Geiger counter sound effects. Use the modwheel to control how much “radiation” it detects. This is a Reason Thor module.

Super CastleVania IV Soundfont
Mike had ripped all the instrument samples directly from the Super CastleVania IV rom back in the day when he still worked purely with module music. This is a soundfont comprised of all of those samples that he also made. Hell, all of the instrument patches on this page were made by him, in fact. If you use a digital audio workstation that can use VSTs, download the Super CastleVania IV Suite instead.

Super CastleVania IV Suite
Here we have the VST version of the Super CastleVania IV soundfont. Download this instead of the soundfont version if you use a VST host digital audio workstation. It houses every instrument from the game as far as we’re aware much like the soundfont but also has a lot of built in effects that attempt to replicate those found in Super CastleVania IV’s music. It has sixteen instruments slots, each which can be assigned to their own MIDI channels, aftertouch effect, variable pitch bend range, mono or poly mode, various options for mono mode, pitch bending options, quality control, volume curve settings, attack, sustain, decay, release, echo, high pass and low pass, volume and pan for each individual instrument. It also has a master volume and pan which can be controlled by MIDI controllers 7 and 10 respectively. This is the very first VST Mike programmed. Future versions may include the ability to control the volume and pan of each individual instrument slot through the use of MIDI controllers instead of just the master pan and volume.
