The Rise and Fall of Chernobyl

This is Fifth Independent’s debut album which you should listen to or else we’ll hunt you down and gouge out your eyes. Just kidding. You won’t have to buy any of these because fuck money. Alternatively, you can donate money to us if you really want to. It’s best if you download all of these and then play them, as they’re set to fluidly transition into each other after each song ends. Some of the musical direction was inspired by the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games but this is an album about the construction and eventual demise of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and all the implications of those two events. If anyone would like to sing and do narration in place of Mike since he was the only one willing to do it, please use the send hate mail form and let us know. If you’re a minor you probably shouldn’t listen to this as it’s dark and depressing and twisted and will probably ruin your mind.

Mike Crain had a hand in writing all of the music, entirely wrote a lot of the music, wrote nearly all of the lyrics and played keyboards and also wrote some of the percussion. Andrew Barley drummed most of the album, creating most of the percussion himself and co-wrote some music. Kyna Crain wrote some of the lyrics on Cockroach Rhapsody 2. Thanks also goes out to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. team for the vocals at the beginning of The Zone of Alienation, bullockjs for the wind in A Shadow’s Looming Overhead, ERH for wind in The Day After and Prologue, klankbeeld for city sounds in The City of Prypiat, luffy for vinyl scratch sound in Cockroach Rhapsody 2, Syna-max for the death scream in My Last Breath and various sources for the dogs at the beginning of The Zone of Alienation.
